Veggie Tales

For the past 8 months or so I have been part of a veggie/fruit co op. It has been awesome. I have loved getting fresh produce for a reasonable price. I've had to go to the farmers market twice to pick up, but that has been surprisingly fun. The last time I went I took my family with me. The girls got a kick out of running around in the big warehouses and seeing all the produce. At one place we went, the owner cut up the largest apple I have ever seen for my girls to sample. mmmmmm. delicious!! Every other friday when the produce is delivered, its like Christmas, going through the baskets/bags and seeing what we get. Its fun to see what other people pick out and there have only been 2 or 3 things that we havent liked/used. Generally its just fun. I would totally recommend a co op for anyone!!

Check out what I got for 20 bucks this past week. (I was not the pickup gal this time around.)

-8 large zucchini
-10 cucumbers
-3 heads cauliflower
-8 corn on the cob
-14 potatoes
-2 honeydew melons
-4 boxes strawberries
-3 12 oz. boxes blackberries

(Not pictured: the berries, a cauliflower and a honeydew melon)

Brett and I dont eat a lot of cucumbers so I think I am going to try and make some relish. I've been wanting to try my hand at canning (I was going to wait and try it out with peaches this summer). I've decided "why wait". Might as well start with some relish. Hopefully I'll have some good things to report in a couple of days!! I'm off to go enjoy my veggies!! :)

April Project: Chair Covers

My project for April was to recover our kitchen chairs. This is something that has needed to be done for a couple of years. lol. I've heard that is was easy, but was hesitant to do it by myself, not knowing what I was doing. After watching a couple how-tos on the internet I decided I would give it a try. I grabbed some fabric that I had on hand and went to town. As my friends had told me, it was surprisingly easy! I'm really happy with the end result. A little change can go a long way!
